About the event

Join us for the official launch of the Seattle LUNAR hub! We will be bringing in shabbat together, while learning about Asian Jewish identities from sociologist, Dr. Helen Kim (Whitman College) and exploring our own Asian Jewish identities in an identity mapping activity.

This event is open to Asian American Jews, and their +1 guests. LUNAR defines ‘Asian American Jews’ as folks who identify as both Jewish (whether by heritage, religion or culture) and Asian American - this includes mixed race folks, transracial adoptees, Asian Jews by Choice, and more. We fully welcome those in the process of converting to Judaism, or simply exploring Judaism.

This event is free to attend. Organized by Daniel Tam-Claiborne and Grace Elizabeth Dy, seattle@weareasianjews.org.

About our guest speaker:

Helen Kim is Professor of Sociology and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Whitman

College in Walla Walla, Washington. Her scholarship focuses on race and American Judaism…
